SWAT Respond After Man Threatens Amazon Driver With Knife In Wilmington: Police

A police standoff in Wilmington ended peacefully after local and state officials responded to a report of a man who threatened an Amazon delivery driver this week.

Wilmington Police responded to the incident on North Street around 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, the department said on Facebook.

The suspect, later identified as 67-year-old Arthur Alves, of Hollis, NH, had barricaded himself inside a home before police arrived.

Out of an abundance of caution, the NEMLEC SWAT Team was called in to help, police said.

With the help of WPD Officer and NEMLEC negotiator Katy Goodwin, Alves surrendered to police without incident.

He was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to police.
